In 1997, the HCA Healthcare Foundation established its inaugural fund, a $110 million community impact fund designed to support Middle Tennessee-based nonprofits providing community solutions in the areas of health and well-being, basic needs, primary care, education, and the arts. Then as now, the hallmark of an organization receiving funding is a deep, authentic relationship with HCA Healthcare colleagues, as demonstrated by board-level engagement and volunteer service.
The Middle Tennessee Fund supports organizations providing services in the areas of health and well being, basic needs, primary care, education and the arts. Our funding geography focuses on Middle Tennessee counties, including Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson.
Our grant types include general operating support, program support and capital support.
New applicants must fill out the Applicant Inquiry Form and receive a reply from the HCA Healthcare Foundation staff before proceeding with a grant application. “New applicants” includes agencies that have not previously received funding from the Foundation as well as agencies that have not been funded by the Foundation in the past 18 months.
Funding considerations
The Foundation does not consider requests for support from organizations that have been IRS-recognized 501c3 for less than 36 months. Additionally, the Foundation does not consider requests for event sponsorship, individuals or their projects, private foundations, or political activities.
Capital requests are reviewed at the Quarter 2 and Quarter 4 board meetings. First-time grant applications to the Foundation are reviewed at the Quarter 2, 3 and 4 board meetings.
Grant applications received by the following deadlines will be reviewed at the corresponding board meetings:
- Deadlines and meeting dates for 2025 will be scheduled mid-October
- September 13, 2024 (Quarter 4 Meeting - November 12, 2024)
